    Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking per diem Mammography Technicians to support operations at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS). Various day and night shifts are available. Compensation includes an hourly wage of approximately $37.00/hour and a 401k program with company match.

    Responsibilities

    • The Mammography Technician shall meet or exceed reasonable standards of professional practice for the health care concerned as determined by the authority that governs military medical professionals in the same disciplines
    • Performs diagnostic radiographic service to patients of all ages upon referral by a physician; in-processes patients using the hospital information system currently used in Department of Radiology; performs other functions as necessary to process patient through the Department of Radiology; arrives and departs patients as their exams are performed and completed and inputs their hours worked in the system on a weekly basis
    • Shall provide appropriate diagnostic mammography services sufficient to meet the needs of a large medical center providing outpatient and inpatient radiological service; services provided shall meet the accepted standards of the American College of Radiology and the FDA for position and clarity
    • Shall check daily with the Mammography Section Supervisor to ascertain the day's schedule
    • Receives and positions the patient appropriately for the required examination, explains procedure and actions to allay fears and secure maximum cooperation, interviews patient to determine possible exclusion from study, and directs rescheduling as required by patient emergencies and equipment failure
    • Properly utilizes markers to always label images, anatomical part, and position of anatomical part in a plane, when applicable, IAW Department of Radiology SOPs
    • Properly affixes the patient's identification data on all appropriate mammography images
    • Shall ensure that no pregnant patient will be examined during her first trimester; this will be accomplished by questioning all female patients of childbearing age and reviewing their medical record
    • Monitors patient condition during examination and, if necessary, renders emergency aid and summon assistance.
    • Reviews any old images and/or reports; re-verifies correct exam techniques and performs the exam
    • Processes and reviews the digital mammography exam images; provides images and/or films to radiologist for review and interpretation
    • Performs proper operator level preventive and corrective maintenance to the digital mammography equipment and informs supervisor of all equipment failures and low performance
    • Equipment malfunctions; during regular duty hours, all equipment malfunctions will immediately be brought to the attention of the supervisor
    • Maintains professional competency involving clinical skills and knowledge through participation in professional radiology technology organizations, self-directed journal readings, and attendance of in-service and continuing education programs
    • Sanitizes equipment per Infection Control guidelines and prepares exam room for next patient that includes obtaining clean linen and removing dirty linen
    • Arrives and departs each patient in the VASDHS patient information system
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Shall participate in administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinical operations and ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC) standards

    Qualifications

    • Be a registered mammography technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with (R) and (M) specific disciplines
    • Shall have, and maintain, current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR as certified by the American Heart Association
    • Minimum of one-year of experience in mammography with any type of vendor digital mammography equipment while performing screening and diagnostic mammograms, quality control, and breast specimen radiography
    • Acquired experience, which has provided some familiarity with medical care and mammography procedures and digital mammography equipment and be able to use compression device, equipment lock, mechanical table, and biopsy equipment
    • Determined by the MTF to be involved in the delivery of healthcare to children under the age of 18 on a frequent and regular basis must meet the requirements of the Crime Prevention Act of 1990
    • Must be a U.S. citizen
