    Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking qualified Advanced Medical Supports Assistants for service at a VA facility in Asheville, NC. Full-time and part-time positions with competitive packages are available. A high degree of tact and diplomacy is required when dealing with Veterans who have multiple health problems and who may be frustrated with the administrative process associated with diagnosis and treatment. As a front line contact with patients and staff, the Advanced Medical Assistant (AMSA) sets the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services at the VA.

    Responsibilities

    In the scheduling role, the AMSA supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs identification of all patients through the use of two forms of identification, name and full Social Security Number. The patient may also present the Veterans Identification Card (VIC) for identification. The AMSA must use each interaction with the patient to validate and update patient demographic information during check-in or over the phone to decrease the incidence of returned mail due to incorrect addresses and inability to contact patient by phone due to incorrect number. The AMSA explains the VA's mandate to collect insurance information from Veterans, their families, and other eligible patients. This AMSA contributes to the revenue collection process by identifying patients with third party insurance. He/she collects, scans, and updates health insurance information serving a major role in the revenue process.

    In the performance of official duties, the AMSA has regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive data which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA procedures. The AMSA is responsible for (1) protecting data from unauthorized release of form loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion, and (2) following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files and user ADP security as set out in the computer access agreement which he/she signs.

    Qualifications

    • One year of experience as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting
    • High school diploma or equivalent; high school diploma may be substituted for two years of demonstrated, full-time experience in a Medical Assistant role
    • Formal education in medical assistant, certification as a Registered Medical Assistant, or certification as a Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
    • U.S. Citizen
    • Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity, hand coordination, pleasant voice, good diction, good pronunciation and acute hearing. Work is general sedentary with minimal mobilization to work groups and departments to work directly with staff to resolve problems
