    Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Medical Technologists to support the Captain James. A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) located at 3001 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064. Services will be delivered in multiple departments of the facility. Multiple full-time and part-time positions are available. Shifts include (the lab is open 24 hours per day/7 days per week:

    • 1st Shift: 6:30am-3:00pm
    • 2nd Shift: 2:30pm-11:00pm
    • 3rd Shift: 10:30pm-7:00am
    • All shifts include weekends and holidays, no after hours on-call

    Responsibilities

    • Performs a broad range of laboratory services; in addition, performs advanced and complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles; recognizes and communicates pre-defined critical results affecting patient care
    • Evaluates the suitability and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis relative to the test(s) being performed
    • Maintains and documents the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment according to facility policy
    • Uses, calibrates, identifies malfunctions, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance of laboratory
    • Selects, performs, evaluates, and monitors the performance of the test procedures using manual and or instrumental techniques in accordance with established; recognizes and reacts to indicators of instrument malfunction; locates and implements corrections
    • Conducts, performs, and documents quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective actions related to equipment, reagents, and products using statistical principles and theories of performance
    • Adheres to practices and regulations governing biosafety and biosecurity
    • Verifies correct instruments operation using established procedures and quality control checks and identifies the cause of common problems, solves problems, and suggests solutions and makes simple repairs
    • Evaluates the validity of data in relation to the test system and accepted assay
    • Correlates quantitative data with patient data (i.e. history, medications) to verify results
    • Performs additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient; recognizes abnormal results that require immediate attention by the physician and reports them directly
    • Responsible for the generation of laboratory results from the work area into the laboratory computer system and for the editing and verification of the results recorded into the computer
    • Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, test sensitivity, and specific factors, which influence tests; interprets results and suggests follow up test selection or procedures
    • Evaluates and implements new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of equipment, method comparison, and establishment of reference
    • Assists with instruction and training of new employees and students and in the laboratory's in- service/continuing education
    • Communicates effectively and courteously while working as a healthcare team
    • Communicates to provides effective turn over between shifts
    • Provides excellent service as defined by the customer (healthcare providers, patients, and others)
    • Organizes work and sets priorities to meet
    • Cleans and disinfects work areas throughout the work shift

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor-level degree in a related field from an accredited educational institution
    • ASCP, AMT, or another professional certification or equivalent Nationally-recognized Medical Technologist certification
    • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience
    • Experience with at least two (2) of the following systems: Sysmex Hematology, Sysmex Chemistry, Sysmex Urinalysis, and/or Stago Coagulation
    • Experience with the Vista Laboratory Information System (LIS) is preferred
